Residential drain service
Drain Cleaning Services
A drain that empties slowly, gurgles, or backs up is one of the most common reasons homeowners call a plumber. We clear residential drains and check that water is moving the way it should before we call the job finished.
- Responsive local service
- Clear, upfront quotes
- Reliable workmanship
What Drain Cleaning Involves
Household drains collect the things that pass through them every day, hair and soap in bathrooms, grease and food in kitchens, lint and detergent in laundry lines. Over time that build-up narrows the pipe until water can no longer move freely.
Drain cleaning means clearing that restriction and then confirming the line drains properly under normal use. We look at where the problem shows up first, because a single slow sink usually points somewhere different than several fixtures backing up at once.
Single Fixture Or Whole House
If only one fixture is slow, the restriction is often close by, in the trap or the branch line serving that fixture. When more than one fixture in the home drains poorly at the same time, the shared line further along may be involved, and that sometimes overlaps with sewer line work.
Store-bought chemical drain products can make things harder rather than easier. They are hard on older pipes, they do not remove build-up further down the line, and leftover product in a standing drain has to be dealt with carefully.
Signs A Drain May Need Attention
- Water pools in the sink, tub, or shower instead of draining away
- Gurgling sounds from a drain when another fixture is used
- Persistent smells coming from a drain
- A drain that clears briefly and then slows again within days
- More than one fixture in the home draining poorly at the same time
When Professional Help May Make Sense
- Plunging and basic cleaning have not restored normal flow
- The same drain keeps clogging after being cleared
- Several fixtures are affected at once
- Waste water is coming back up into a fixture or floor drain

Drain Cleaning FAQ
+What are the signs a drain needs professional attention?
Common signs include standing water in a fixture, repeated clogs in the same drain, gurgling when another fixture runs, and more than one drain in the home slowing at the same time. A plumber can look at the line to see what is actually restricting it.
+Why does the same drain keep clogging?
A drain that clears and then slows again within days often still has build-up further along the line, or something about that section of pipe keeps catching debris. It is worth having the line looked at rather than clearing it repeatedly.
+Should I use a chemical drain cleaner first?
We generally suggest not relying on them. They can be hard on older pipes, they rarely remove build-up deeper in the line, and product left standing in a drain has to be handled carefully when a plumber arrives.
+Do you clean drains outside Kitchener?
